Trev was whisked off to the Grey Nuns hospital in south Edmonton after his crash on Sunday afternoon. After sitting around half-naked, half-skinned, fully ignored, for numerous hours with festering wounds, he decided to take matters into his own hands with a bit of DIY hospital care. Picture most of the patients/family in emergency looking on in disbelief/curiosity. When one of the nurses walked past, she did a double-take....then got him a mat to catch the saline solution he was pouring on himself.

I think we need a carnage forum where we can post pictures of our wounds.
The secret to faster emergency health care is to break more bones and make sounds like you can't breathe so the ER nurse places you in the priority queue for treatment and any CT/X-Ray work. Unfortunately deep skin abrasions are only considered minor. I wish I wasn't knowledgeable about this stuff.
You know what is funny Dennis, I had a triage score of 2 since I was classified as a concussion patient with possible internal brain bleeding. I was scheduled for a CT head scan at 2:30pm. While I was waiting from 2:30 - around 7pm for the scan, they let me doze off unattended in the stretcher. I am pretty sure you shouldn't let a concussion patient with possible internal brain bleeding doze off !! Maybe I'm wrong though.
Rod, if we created that forum, I think our grass roots club enrollment would drop next year. Although a smaller club would be easier to manage ....

Unfortunately, the Gray Nuns is the slowest/worst ER in Edmonton (that's what an EMS guy told me once). If you crash around Edmonton... beg to go to the U of A!

He Trev, sorry to hear about the crash. Hope you heal up quickly. I do know of a place near the foot hills hospital that sells all the goods you'll need to take care of road rash, lots of stuff in bulk. And remember to take it easy with the polysporin b/c your body will develop an immunity to it. Vaseline also works well.
Now that is not exactly the best endorsement of our health care system!
Having said that, I can't help but wonder, two years ago when I hit the deck in a large Cat 5 crash (also at Pigeon) they only took us to the hospital in Wetaskwin. Interesting that Cat 1/2 guys go to Edmonton...
Having said that they seemed to take care of us quite a bit more quickly!

I am going to go with the idea that all of the hot nurses were so intimidated by Trev's rippling bare chest that they did not want to help him because they would not be able to keep their hands off.
Or ... there was just poor service.
I like the first story better.
I saw Trev at work today, Jenn was dropping him off at the ICT stop. I didn't have to walk to fast to catch up to him, even though I was way across the parking lot.
I thought "holy, what a train wreck, a real human band-aid".
People in the U just looked in awe, like some sort of Frankenstien experiment was escaping from one of the basement Labs...
The least I could do was buy ya a coffee.
What a bad ass! Trev let me know if you need any extra help this weekend! i can stick around and do some stuff before and after i ride.
